Ramanda “Esse” Hicks is a producer, director, writer and owner of Ram in the Bush Media LLC. She actively supports multiple non-profit organizations and community initiatives. As an overcomer of domestic violence and child loss, Ramanda advocates for homeless women and under-served communities. This passion for people helps her create stories that motivate, encourage and uplift. She has a B.A. in Communication Studies-Journalism and M.B.A in Marketing*.

More About me

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Ramanda received her undergraduate degree Communication Studies-Journalism and received recognition as a Shear Fellow from the Sue Shear Institute for Women in Public Life. Ms. Hicks was also awarded the Staff Council Award for outstanding leadership, President’s Award from the Kansas City Association of Black Journalists, and Vice Chancellor’s Honor Roll Award. Ms. Hicks was later affiliated with Second Missionary Baptist Church where she was responsible for media, marketing and public relations. Her volunteer work and community support includes organizations such as the Harvesters Food Bank Network, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Angel Flight Central, Grandview Assistance Program, True Light Family Resource Center. Ms. Hicks founded the Joyous Journey Adult Student Scholarship for mature adults returning for degree completion. Ramanda co-founded Rise Over Run Media LLC and owns Ram in the Bush Media, LLC. She is Co-Founder of Be A Bridge & Elevate (BABE). Ramanda has three children and enjoys creative writing, art, jazz and motorcycles.
